I joined Ok Cupid over 10 years ago, when it was not a dating site and just had online quizzes and games. I was married then but am single now but I don't think I filled out the profile until I was single. However, this is not always as easy as it sounds either, trying to approach someone else at work in the hope that they may also be interested in increasing their social friendship circle can be quite daunting.Another issue with making social friends at work is that you have to be cautious about what you discuss, keep the topics easy and light and see where the friendship takes you.The took a closer look at three such sites in particular: Social Jane.com, Girl Friend Circles and Girlfriend Social.According to its website, Girl Friend Circles is “committed to introducing awesome women and inspiring real friendships.” Girlfriend Social explicitly states that it is a website for “ladies only” who are “looking to make platonic women friendships.” The process works similarly to online dating. While it’s generally accepted that you may need to put some in some extra effort while pursuing a romantic partner, actively looking for friends may be viewed as out of the ordinary or desperate.“The awkwardness seems even more intense than dating sites because it doesn't align with the old, time-worn trope of the Boyfriendless Lady Who Has Lots Of Female Friends But Just Wants Love,” wrote Jezebel’s Ann Breslaw. The number of users online dating sites like Match.com, OKCupid, JDate and e Harmony now attract suggests that any stigma people once felt around looking for love online has lifted. But would you use a matchmaking site to find female friends? It was not a dating site back then though and didn't start that way. That said, it is, at least partially, a dating site now - times have changed. There should be a site made just for platonic friends, if that doesn't exist now. I occasionally peruse through dating profiles online and stumble upon something that I find quite odd.
